Motorist's lucky escape after new accident at Burnham blackspot

A woman was rescued from her car after it careered into a ditch at an accident blackspot in Burnham-On-Sea early on Tuesday morning (May 6th).

Ambulance, police and fire crews were called to Stoddens Lane at 4.45am after the Ford Puma left the road.

The emergency services arrived to find the lady driver still inside the vehicle and the fire crews from Burnham and Weston used an extension ladder and salvage sheets to help the lady from her vehicle.

Police spokesman Ian Drury told Burnham-On-Sea.com: "The driver was trapped inside the car after it left the road. She was treated at the scene but was not injured."

There have been several accidents at this road bend, near the railway bridge, during recent years. The most recent was last December and another occurred last October (pictured).
