Princess Hall regeneration scheme to be discussed in September

A
special 'all-partner meeting' is to be held in September to push
forward the plans to transform Burnham-On-Seas Princess
Hall into the proposed Learning and Cultural Quarter pictured
above.
The
meeting has been arranged following discussions this week between
Sedgemoor District Council and the Burnham and Highbridge Community
Association, which runs Burnham Community Centre in Berrow Road.
"The
Community Association and Sedgemoor District Council, like other
partners, need to determine the long term strategies for their
buildings and activities and it is vital that the prospects for
the achievement of the Learning and Cultural Quarter based on
the Princess is fully explored and conclusions. The timetable
for this is set for April 2009," district council spokeswoman
Claire Faun told Burnham-On-Sea.com on Friday (August 1st).
"Exciting
plans for refurbished and extended Princess were devised by consultant
Nigel Grainge earlier
this year in close liaison with the Community Association,
the Burnham and Highbridge Regeneration Partnership, Princess
Hall User Group and Burnham Chamber of Commerce."
"The
task ahead is to turn these ambitions into reality and if not
achievable, plan how the partners can work together to ensure
good quality facilities in Burnham-on-Sea for the future."
