Famous
names ready to tee off at Brean golf tournament
A
whole host of celebrities will be appearing at Brean Leisure Park's
annual Celebrity Pro-Am Golf Tournament on Tuesday (May 13th).
Top
sporting names including jockey Tony McCoy (pictured), Sam Thomas,
Dominic Elsworth, Dave Crosse, Jimmy McCarthy, Will Kennedy, Carl
Llewellyn, Luke Harvey and Joe Tizzard are scheduled to take part
in the competition.
The
tournament, which is being held in aid of The Injured Jockeys
Fund, St Margarets Hospice and The Alzheimers Society,
is an annual event that has previously included top national hunt
jockeys and trainers, together with other sporting personalities
from the world of golf, football and cricket.
"The
event typically attracts between 25 and 35 teams, which consist
of three amateur players
plus one designated celebrity. The winning team receives golf
equipment supplied by Brean Golf Clubs resident PGA professional
David Haines who will be assisting with the event. The winners
also take with them the memorial trophy dedicated to well known
local sports fan Tom Childs who sadly passed away in 1998,"
said spokesman Nick Burrett.
There
are still a few places left for anyone wishing to take part in
the event. The team fee is £150 which includes all pre-play
refreshments and a main meal after the tournament. Tee-off times
are from 10.15am with presentations at 7pm in The Tavern function
suite at Brean Leisure Park. Further information can be obtained
from either Nick Burrett on 01278 752121 or David Haines at the
Golf Pro Shop on 01278 752111.
