Lights,
camera, action! Highbridge film-making
sessions prove popular
Budding
young Steven
Spielbergs of the future
were able to try out their film-making
skills during a series of half term workshops in Highbridge this
week.
The
'Make A Film in A Day' and 'Animation for Beginners' workshops
were held at the Morland Community Centre in Pearce Drive, Highbridge.
The
sessions - organised by the Young People's Film Council and Bridgwater's
Engine Room - let
youngsters aged between 13-19 try out film-making and animation-making
in a series of free, one-day workshops.
"Film
maker James Dean took the youngsters through all the stages of
film-making, from how to generate suitable ideas for short films,
to camera and sound techniques," said The Engine Room's Deborah
Richardson.
"A
quick dip into post-production transformed all the exciting work
of the day into a film that children were proud to show friends
and family."
BAFTA
winning animators Tom Stubbs and Joff Winterhart will be in Highbridge
later this week when the 'Animation for Beginners' course covers
creating cartoons, from flickbooks to stop-motion claymation.
The
one-day workshops will take place on Thursday (21st February)
from 10am - 4pm and Friday (22nd February) from 10am - 4pm. Places
are limited, so booking is essential by contacting The Engine
Room on 01278 433187.
The
workshops are being run as part of the Big
Media Project, funded by Mediabox, a £6 million scheme
launched by the Department for Children, Schools and Families
to help young people have a positive voice in the media.
