Warning
issued over counterfeit bank notes circulating in Burnham
Shoppers
and businesses in Burnham-On-Sea have been warned to look out
for counterfeit £20 notes circulating in the town.
The
Chamber of Trade issued a warning on Monday (April 28th) after
several town centre firms fell victim to the fake bank notes.
"A
number of counterfeit £20 notes have been received by the
town's retailers over
the weekend,"
Chamber Chairman Alex Turco confirmed to Burnham-On-Sea.com.
"The
notes are the new style of £20 and are slightly darker than
normal and on smoother paper."
"Otherwise,
they are very good replication. They bear the number BB14882102,"
he added. "We would recommend firms and shoppers are extremely
cautious."
Burnham-On-Sea.com
understands that a pub and two Burnham High Street shops received
the counterfeit notes on Saturday.
Anyone
with information about the source of the notes should contact
police via the usual Crimestoppers number, 0800 555 111.
