Exciting first day of action at 2008 Brean Rally

Just
one second separated the top two cars at the end of an exciting
first day of action at the 2008 Brean Rally on Saturday (January
26th).
 Last
year's winners David Kynaston and co-driver Andy Russell were
in blistering form in their Audi A3 Quattro (pictured above) and
they finished the day at the top of the leader board after six
stages.
The
provisional results show the Exeter duo have a very slender lead
of just one second over second-placed Karl Broad and co-driver
Roger Grant in their Metro 6R4 (pictured in car #3).
Third
spot was occupied by husband-and-wife team Steve Furzeland and
co-driver Yvonne Furzeland, who were 11 seconds off the lead.
The couple, pictured below, are hoping to repeat their performance
of 2006 when they won the whole rally.
 The
popular event - now in its 12th year - drew large crowds of spectators
to Brean Leisure Park and leg two on Sunday (27th January) will
feature a further six stages, making a total over two days of
52 miles of rallying.
The
gates open for the second day of action on Sunday at 8am with
the first car starting at 10am. The first car will finish at approximately
3.30pm. Spectators are invited to watch the action with admittance
by car only, which costs £15 per car.

Mechanical
problems led to an abrupt end to the rally for Simon Andrew and
Kathy Andrew in car 66 above
Burnham's
Nikki Peskett and Kate Drake were in the thick of the action and
finished the day in 44th place
Torbay's
David Williams and Robert Yabsley took the long way around this
corner during Saturday's first rally action!
Dave
Boden and Sarah Wills were the leading Burnham-On-Sea team at
the end of day one and were lying in 27th position.
