Two people cut free from vehicles after serious crash near Burnham

Two people were cut free from their damaged cars after a serious accident on the A370 at Brent Knoll, near Burnham-On-Sea, on Tuesday morning (April 29th).

Fire, police and ambulance crews from Burnham-On-Sea and Weston were alerted at 8.10am after a two-vehicle road traffic collision on the junction with Edingworth Road.

"On arrival, the fire crews confirmed that there were two persons trapped in seperate vehicles. Both casualties were extricated from the cars using Clan Lucas cutting gear due to suspected neck and spinal injuries," said a fire spokesman.

The brigade made both vehicles safe and the two casualties were taken to hospital in an ambulance. The road was shut while the emergency services dealt with the incident and it did not re-open until 9.30am, resulting in long queues of traffic in the area, as pictured.
