Signs went up outside Highbridge’s Kwik Save supermarket this week letting shoppers know about a huge new relaunch being planned at the store in coming weeks.
A spokeswoman said the supermarket in Southwell Crescent will be closed for two weeks from March 17th while the store is refurished and re-opened as a new-look Somerfield store.
The rebranding exercise comes even though nearby Burnham-On-Sea already has a Somerfield supermarket just five minutes drive away.
Julie Daniels, a company spokeswoman at Somerfield – which owns Kwik Save – said the relaunch had been planned some time ago and had nothing to do with Asda’s plans to build a massive 40,000 sq ft store at nearby Springfield Road.
