Burnham-On-Sea Cinema re-opens for business For the latest cinema times and schedule, click here for our what's on page
It now has two new large screens, state-of-the-art projectors plus air conditioning and seats for up to 230 people. There are two screenings each weekday evening, and four screenings at weekends when the cinema is also open in the afternoon. Furthermore, a special 'silver screen' presentation for classic cinema fans is being held on Tuesday and Thursday mornings at 10.30am. The cinema is showing the very latest releases at the same time as larger cinemas in Taunton and Weston-super-Mare, but owner Patt Scott (pictured below) told Burnham-On-Sea.com that this is very much dependent on the size of audiences. "The more people we get, the bigger the releases we can guarantee," he said.
Ticket prices are £3.80 for children and £4.90 for adults. Children's tickets cost £4.90 after 7pm. Burnham's Ritz cinema originally opened in 1936 but closed in the summer of 2002 due to poor audience numbers. Patt, who also runs Highbridge News, bought the building as he has plenty of interest in cinemas - he worked as a projectionist for several years and was the manager of The Roses Theatre In Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire. The cinema uses projection equipment and other kit from the Robins Cinema in Bath, which closed its doors in January 2004. See more here. HAVE

Burnham-On-Sea's
cinema has re-opened with two screens showing films
every night of the week. 
The
cinema re-opened on Friday September 17, 2004 with Shrek 2 and
the latest Harry Potter movie.
