Sea
Cadets get to see real rescue unfold during visit to rescue crews

Members
of Burnham-On-Sea's Sea Cadets visited the town's Coastguard hovercraft
rescue teams on Thursday (April 2nd) - and got to see a real incident
unfold around them.
The
eight youngsters were given a tour of the Coastguard station on
Burnham seafront where they met the station's crew, who explained
their role in keeping the coastline safe.
They
then visited BARB, the charity that operates two rescue hovercrafts,
and were given the opportunity to climb onboard the Spirit Of
Lelaina and Light Of Elizabeth hovercrafts.
"As
the group's visit was coming to an end, the Coastguard pagers
sounded and a real incident unfolded when an elderly woman was
reported to be in trouble on Burnham beach," said a Coastguard
spokesman.
"The
cadets watched from The Esplanade as a search of the beach was
conducted in the dark, and the missing lady was eventually found
in a disorientated state."
