Charity
golfers raise £4,200 for Burnham's hovercraft group

More
than 80 golfers putted, chipped and drove their way around the
fairways of Brean Golf Course, raising a bumper £4,200 for
BARB, the charity that runs Burnham's rescue hovercraft.
Sixteen
teams competed in Coast Radio's Charity Day, which was won by
local team 'The Bright Sparks' consisting of Andy Curry, Joe Hasting,
Mark Parsons and Andrew Thomas.
Professional
player David Haines, pictured above with David Preece and Coast
Radio's Josh Haywood, performed a trick shot show in front of
the club house where a brand new BMW mini - provided by Irvines
of Bridgwater - was up for grabs for any player scoring a hole
in one. While plenty of players came close to making a claim,
no-one was lucky enough to win the keys!
Burnham's
Spirit Of Lelaina hovercraft provided the backdrop for the first
hole, as players hit off for the day.
And
later, an evening of entertainment was laid on at nearby Scotty's
Bar where comedian Chubby Spencer provided plenty of laughs. A
fundraising raffle was held, further boosting the amount raised
from the day.
Coast
Radio's Josh Haywood said the event had been a "huge success
and great fun." He thanked those who had participated and
all those who had sponsored the day and provided help.
BARB
Chairman Alan Miller thanked the group for their support, adding:
"We are incredibly grateful for these funds, which will be
directed straight into maintenance of our two craft and ongoing
training of our crews. Many, many thanks for everyone who supported
the event and played."
